…FAQ

OK, so no one really asks me questions, but I imagine if people did, they’d end up being along these lines. If you have a question, feel free to post it in the comments section and perhaps it’ll find its way onto the list.

1. Why is your name Gifted Thought?

I just liked the name. I used to go by my AIM screenname, which is MajaFlavaz which was a variation of MajahFlavah, a clothing brand in Korea, but then when I started recording, I changed it to Jotted Down. I didnt really like that name as time went so finally I sat and thought long and hard sometime in 2003 and came up with Gifted Thought. I just felt it fit better haha.

2. What type of recording equipment do you use?

That answer can be found here.

3. Who are your main musical influences? Who is your favorite artist?

I enjoy music too much to have a favorite artist. Of course I like some more than others but in generally the music I like and listen to is the music that influences me. Believe it or not I used to love the dance/techno music of the 90’s. So the appreciation for catchy beats and melodies kind of stuck with me. As I grew older I began to appreciate all different types of music. On my myspace I stated “I dont think I sound like any one sound in particular. I suppose the best description would be a blending of west/east Hip Hop with definite influences from popular Asian music, all brought together by a tone that borders on religous and socially concious”, and I believe that still describes me fairly well.

4. Are you looking to get signed or do music professionally?

I would be lying if I said I never thought or dreamt about it. But realistically music is just a creative outlet for me. Call it a glorified hobby if you will. I love music and will probably try to be doing something with it for the rest of my life, but I dont know if I will ever pursue it professionally. Who knows though, the future is pretty open.

5. What race/nationality are you?

I am Asian. Specifically Korean/Chinese. I can’t speak much of either though.

6. Where can I get a copy of the In Transition Mixtape?

Shh. You’re not even supposed to know about it yet.

7. How can I get in contact with you?

My contact info can be found here.

8. Would you be willing to do collabs/features/etc ?

OK, short answer yes, long answer … but it depends. Get at me via the contact info link above and we’ll talk about it cuz it’ll vary on a case by case basis. In general, I love working with new people and creating good music, but I like to discuss things first and then go from there.

9. What do you look like?

At the moment, I look like the hippie version of Peter Griffin. Yea, I know. Attractive huh? After I cut my hair I’ll look a lot more generic and boring.

Aight, so that’s it for now. But there’s more to come…
