What is “HIBAKUSHA”?

January 11, 2011

Being a musician, blogger, and overall participant in the Asian-American community, I’ve come across a lot of great people doing a lot of great things. This is yet another example of just that. The homies Steve Nguyen ( Film maker and co-founder of ChannelAPA) and Choz Belen (MV Director/Animator for FM, Deep Foundation & others) are teaming up to bring us an animated short film called “HIBAKUSHA”.

So what the check is “HIBAKUSHA”? It’ll prob best to let you watch the clip below first.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

“HIBAKUSHA” is an animated documentary/drama featuring Kaz Suyeishi, an 84 year old woman, who recalls her most vivid and horrific experiences as an 18 year old Japanese American student during the morning of August 6, 1945 when the atomic bomb dropped on her hometown

So why am I sharing this with you? Because like most independent efforts, this project is in need of support, and I personally believe this is a story worth telling. Remember, those who forget history are doomed to repeat it. You can support Steve & Choz too by visiting their kick starter page and/or by spreading the word.
