New Music: “A Song For You”

September 21, 2010

I drop a song so infrequently I’m sure many of you forget I do music too. Well, it always has been my first love. Before I started reporting and sharing other people’s music I was always into creating my own, though admittedly I’m not as dedicated to it as I once was.

Anyway, today I’d like to present “A Song For You”. I’ve had the beat to Eminem’s “Beautiful” for quite some time now but it wasn’t until I experienced helplessly watching a friend go through a very tough time did I have the lyrics to write this song. I imagine many of you have been in a similar situation – there’s nothing you could do or say to make things better for someone, but you try because you care. That’s all this really is, a song for those hurting. It’s not meant to offer any answers or solutions to life’s problems, just a reminder that we aren’t alone through them.

The song is off my upcoming mixtape, GT & Friends, likely to drop early 2011. Special thanks to Jae Jin for helping rework the vocal sample.

Oh and it’s a free DL =). Grab it here.

Destination Procrastination

September 13, 2010

So tomorrow I’m leaving for a last minute impromptu trip to Colombia for a few days for work. At this very moment I should be packing and preparing my presentation but I find myself doing everything else but. My day job requires me to travel on occasion, and at one point I was doing so quite frequently so I’ve come to pick up on all the little quirks of the whole system. It’s for that reason that I understand this comic completely.

Anyway, I should get back and finish procrastinating so I can then finish packing and prepping. My flight is scheduled at the God-awful time of 6:15 AM. This is gonna hurt.

Oh well, back to watching WongFu shorts!

Am I the Simon Cowell of Kollaboration DC?

September 1, 2010

I’ve been following the Kollaboration movement since the beginning for the better part of a decade and was SO excited to hear that it’s finally coming to DC. That’s right folks, the Asian-American music talent showcase will be in my backyard on September 25th at the GWU Lisner Auditorium. Want to know another thing that has me incredibly excited?

I’ve been asked to be one of the guest judges.

I’m so humbled for the opportunity and I think it’s gonna be an awesome show, so if you’re anywhere near the mid-atlantic I encourage you to come through and be a part of this. There’s gonna be some names that you’ve likely heard before along with some fresh new talent that I’m sure you’ll enjoy discovering. Check out the Kollab DC website for more info and get your tickets now!

I had the honor of interviewing her for a-Tunes this summer, but that’s neither here nor there. No ladies and gentleman, instead I just wanted to take this moment to share with you a little cover she did of the classic praise song “I Could Sing of Your Love Forever”.

An awesome gal singing an awesome song about an awesome God. Good stuff.
