Wow, The In Transition Mixtape Turns Two Years Old Today

April 8, 2010

Time flies huh? Two years ago I released my debut mixtape entitled In Transition. It was an awesome milestone in my own music career and one I fondly look back upon. I pressed up a couple hundred copies and gave them out at any performances I did and also offered it up as a free DL.

Now I’ll be quite frank and admit that there are things I think I did well with this release, and things that I could most definitely improve upon. The contents of this project were recorded over a span of 5 years, through out most of my college career and a little bit after as well. A lot of great people helped me out with this release and I’m hugely grateful for them. If you want to read a little bit more about it you can check out today’s Weekly Thursday Freebie post on a-Tunes, where I’ve re-released it in commemoration of it’s two year anniversary or you can go straight to the original post from two years ago and DL it from there.

And in case you were wondering, yes I do have some new material on the way. Stay tuned for it later this year =).

Jay Smooth Talks Some Truth

April 2, 2010

It’s pretty easy for most people to forget that I do music. It may not be my full time grind but it’s definitely a first love of mine. With that said, it’s people like Jay Smooth that inspire me to not just love music, but want to hold it accountable and help promote and spread true, good music. I guess that’s one of the driving forces behind why I started a-Tunes.

Anyway, I’m a huge fan of Jay’s vlogs. He usually makes very poignant points and this was no different. Given, I understand that being a rapper is about balance and figuring out what represents you best as an artist but I digress…

Truth.

Why I’m Out of Shape

February 9, 2010

So really there’s a lot I could post about… but frankly I’m tired. And the fact that I’m tired only reinforces the fact that I’m out of shape.

You ever heard of Le Parkour? Think of it as a bunch of modern day ninjas going nuts and flipping out… literally. I’ve been watching clips of it here and there since I discovered it back in college 6,7 years ago. But every once in a while I still come across footage that puts me in a state of awe.

Just watching these dudes makes me feel lazy. Haha. Oh well, my hot pocket is done, time for dinner.

PS… in case you didn’t know… I’m a guy who broke his leg sledding. Yes, sledding. Imagine what would happen if I took up parkour.

D to the, R U Drunken? To the T to the, I, G, We R

January 7, 2010

DT influenced me so much in ’99 and Tiger JK’s still doin it big over a decade later. The video ain’t fancy but it’s raw, and it struck a chord with me. Big ups to JK for representing all these years.

A Big, Fat Hello to 2010

January 3, 2010

Wow. It’s 2010. Shouldn’t I be crusing around in a flying car and shipping packages via teleportation as we all prance around in unisex onesies? Regardless Happy New Years everyone.

So I made the trip up to Jersey this weekend. Conducted interviews for a-Tunes with the MUzO crew (Johnnyphlo & Decipher). In the midst of it all we got some grub at the infamous grease trucks of Rutgers. Everyone thought I was strange for having no clue what a “fat sandwich” was, so I got to find out first hand… and let me tell you the name is fitting.

It’s not so much the sandwiches are huge (they are big but certainly not ginormous), but it’s more the fact the ingredients are so DENSE and deep friend that they will quickly make anyone who consumes them fat.

Even the legendary show ‘Man vs Food’ held an episode centered around these sandwiches. I had the famous ‘Fat Darrell’ but watch on to get an idea of what I was dealing with.

So yea, it tasted awesome but if I’m not careful 2010 will turn out to be my weight and not just the year.
